JUNE 1963

Instalmeht accounts receivable at reporting department stores
shoved little changeWring June and continued nearly one-tenth larger
.than a year earlier. Charge accounts receivable declined-somewhat in
. Jiane but at, the month-end were .slightly above the amount outstanding on
June 50, 1962. Instalment accounts were collected at about the same'
rate as in the two preceding months but- collections on charge accounts
were at a somewhat slower rate than "in May ._
Department store sales,- which usually decline in June, were
down 6 per cent from May at reporting "stores. Both cash and credit
sales declined during the month but were larger .than in June 1962.
