RETAIL FURNITURE REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER 1959
Instalment and charge accounts r e c e i v a b l e a t f u r n i t u r e
s t o r e s a t the end of September were about unchanged from August
l e v e l s . Collections on instalment accounts were 12 p e r cent of
the amount outstanding a t t h e beginning of the month.
T o t a l n e t s a l e s a t r e p o r t i n g s t o r e s declined 5 p e r cent
during September f r e f l e c t i n g decreases i n both cash and c r e d i t
s a l e s . Reported s a l e s t h i s year through September were 9 per
cent above a year e a r l i e r .
