RETAIL/FURNITURE REPORT FOR MAY 1963

Instalment accounts receivable at reporting furniture stores
in May were unchanged from the preceding month and from May 1962.
These accounts were being collected somewhat- more rapidly than in April.
Charge accounts receivable of these stores rose 5 per cent and were
somewhat above the level of a year earlier.
Both cash and credit sales increased "substantially and were
above the volume in the corresponding month last year.
