RETAIL FURNITURE REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 1958

Instalment and charge accounts r e c e i v a b l e a t f u r n i t u r e
s t o r e s increased 2 and 4 p e r cent r e s p e c t i v e l y during November
1958. C o l l e c t i o n s on instalment accounts were 12 per cent of
the amount outstanding a t the beginning of the month.
Total n e t s a l e s a t r e p o r t i n g s t o r e s increased 1 per
cent during the month, r e f l e c t i n g increases in cash and c r e d i t
s a l e s . For the f i r s t 11 months of 1958 t o t a l n e t s a l e s were 6
p e r cent "below the corresponding period of 1957 due l a r g e l y to
the decline in c r e d i t s a l e s .
