RETAIL FURNITURE REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 1942
R e t a i l f u r n i t u r e s t o r e s a l e s i n November d e c l i n e d 9 P e r c e n t f r o m
October arid were 3 p e r c e n t below November 1941. T o t a l s a l e s i n t h e New England
and Middle A t l a n t i c S t a t e s were c o n s i d e r a b l y below t h e November 1941 l e v e l s , r e f l e c t i n g d e c l i n e s i n i n s t a l m e n t s a l e s , b u t i n i m p o r t a n t war p r o d u c t i o n a r e a s of
t h e Middle l e s t a l l t y p e s of s a l e s were s u b s t a n t i a l l y l a r g e r t h a n a y e a r a g o .
I n November c h a r g e - a c c o u n t s a l e s f o r t h e c o u n t r y a s a whole were 4 p e r c e n t and
c a s h s a l e s 65 p e r c e n t above t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g month l a s t y e a r . I n s t a l m e n t
s a l e s showed a d e c l i n e of 14 p e r c e n t .
