RETAIL FURNITURE REPORT FOR DECEMBER 1958

Instalment and charge accounts receivable at furniture
stores increased 6 and 7 per cent respectively during December
1958* Collections on instalment accounts were 12 per cent of
the amount outstanding at the beginning of the month.
Total net sales at reporting stores increased 31 per
cent during the month, reflecting increases in cash and credit
sales. Total net sales in 1958 vera 5 per cent below the previous year due primarily to a decline in credit sales.
