RETAIL FURNITURE REPORT FOR JUNE 1965
Instalment accounts r e c e i v a b l e a t r e p o r t i n g f u r n i t u r e s t o r e s
showed a m o d e r a t e i n c r e a s e f r o m Hay t o J u n e , and c o n t i n u e d about
5 p e r c e n t above t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g f i g u r e f o r l a s t y e a r . The c o l l e c t i o n
r a t i o remained a t 1 2 , p e r Cent of t h e f i r s t - o f - m o n t h r e c e i v a b l e s , about
t h e same r a t e as a y e a r ago.
Charge a c c o u n t b a l a n c e s f o l l o w e d t h e u s u a l s e a s o n a l p a t t e r n ,
and remained unchanged f r o m t h e m o n t h - e a r l i e r and y e a r - e a r l i e r f i g u r e s .
Sales reports indicate a 3 per cent increase in instalment
volume, which mors t h a n o f f s e t t h e s m a l l d e c l i n e i n c h a r g e a c c o u n t
b u s i n e s s . D u r i n g t h e f i r s t h a l f of 1965 t o t a l s a l e s were 5 p e r c e n t
l a r g e r t h a n i n t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g p e r i o d of 1964, w i t h t h e g a i n i n
c a s h and c h a r g e volume g r e a t e r t h a n i n t h e i n s t a l m e n t component.
