FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF NEW YORK May 7, 1971 Change in Distribution of New Cupro-Nickel Kennedy Half Dollars To the Member and Nonmember Banks in the Second Federal Reserve District: As announced in our letter dated April 13, 1971, this Bank began distribution of the new cupro-nickel Kennedy half dollars on April 19. In order to assure an equitable apportionment of these coins, the initial distribution was made on an allotĀ ment basis to only one office of each bank requesting a supply of the coins. We now have an adequate supply of the new half dollars to enable us to disĀ tribute them without having to make specific allotments to each bank. Beginning May 10, we will accept orders from main offices and their branches for reasonable amounts of the new coins. In all other respects, orders for the new coins should be made in accordance with the procedures set forth in our April 13 letter. A lfred H ayes, President.
