FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF NEW YORK J" C ircu la r N o . 5 0 0 6 T L M a r c h 10, 1961 J STOLEN UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT CHECKS To All Banks in the Second Federal Reserve District: W e have been informed by the United States Secret Service that a stock o f blank checks of the Treasurer o f the United States has been stolen and that some of the checks have recently been negotiated. The payee on those checks that have been negotiated is Carl Witten, and the drawer, Disbursing Officer S. Goen; the drawer’s name has been affixed with a rubber stamp, together with the symbol, D 6801. Other details o f the stolen checks are as follow s: Serial Nos. 277444 through 277499 T ype: Punch card Payment of the stolen checks has been stopped. I f any check as described above is presented to you, please notify the local police and the nearest office of the United States Secret Service, and send the check to our Government Check Divi sion without entry. W e will forward it to the Secret Service and will send you a photostatic copy for your use.
