FEDERAL OF RESERVE NEW BANK YORK r Circular No. 3 1 3 3 T L September 23, 1946 J LIFTIN G OF R A IL W A Y EXPRESS EMBARGO ON SHIPMENTS OF PAPER CURRENCY IN TH E $1 DEN OM IN ATION AND OF COIN TO TH IS BANK To all M em ber and Nonm ember Banks in the Second Federal Reserve D istrict: In our Circular No. 3127, dated Septem ber 11, 1946, we advised you that we had made certain tem porary exceptions to the general terms and conditions o f our Circular No. 2883, dated January 1, 1945, entitled ‘ ‘ Shipments o f P aper Currency and C oin ” , in view o f the curtailment o f express service as a consequence o f the local trucking strike. The Railw ay E xpress A gency, Inc. has now inform ed us that, effective Septem ber 24, 1946, express service will again be available fo r sending currency and coin to us. A ccordingly, as o f that date, you should resume sending to us currency in the amount o f $1 denomination totaling over $500, and coin, by express, charges collect, pursuant to the provisions o f paragraphs 9 and 13 of our Circular No. 2883.
