MEDIA ADVISORY Regional Economic Press Briefing on Job Polarization and Rising Inequality in the Region May 18, 2012 UPDATE: Briefing rescheduled for May 30th at 1:30 p.m. Overview The New York Fed will host a press briefing, “Job Polarization and Rising Inequality in the Region” on Wednesday, May 30. The presentation will identify which jobs have been shrinking in the region over the past thirty years, show how this is widening the gap in wages across occupations, as well as address some of the challenges facing job seekers and policymakers as a result of these changes. The event, part of the New York Fed’s Regional Economic Press Briefing series, will also include an update on local economic conditions and trends from New York Fed economists. A staff panel will answer questions from the media on the economy and job polarization following the presentations. President William C. Dudley is expected to offer remarks on the regional economy and participate in the Q&A session. Audience Limited to members of the media.
