The increases were affected by three special factors: a large increase in retroactive social security benefit payments in May, changes in subsidy payments to farmers in May and June, and an initial payment to a newly established retirement savings fund for Federal Government employees in April. Excluding these special factors, personal income increased $19.5 billion in June and $26.2 billion in May. (Series revised.)
