F e d e r a l R e s e r v e Ba n k OF DALLAS Dallas, Texas, February 18, 1954 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT To the Member Banks in the Eleventh Federal Reserve District: The Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas at its meeting on February 11, 1954, elected Watrous H. Irons President of the bank, effective February 15, 1954. Mr. Irons, whose election was approved on February 16, 1954, by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, succeeds Mr. R. R. Gilbert who retired from the office on September 1, 1953, after having served as President of the bank for 14 years. Mr. Irons joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in July 1945 as Director of Research and served in that capacity until April 1946 when he was elected a Vice Presi dent of the bank. From 1937 to 1945 Mr. Irons was Professor of Banking and Finance at the University of Texas, College of Business Administration, and also served from March 1942 to November 1944, on a leave of absence from the University, as Regional Price Economist of the Office of Price Administration in Dallas, Texas. Mr. William D. Gentry, who has served as First Vice President of the bank since October 1944, will continue in that post, and no other changes were made in the officer personnel of the bank.
