Modifications to Bulletin 16 reflecting lower lease
fees for personal computers

SUMMARY:

The
Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is updating
Bulletin 16 -- Dedicated Line and Dial-Up Access to
the RESPONSE Network.
The changes, which become
effective February 1, 1985, reflect a reduction in the
monthly charge for personal computers leased to
depository institutions. In addition, the Dallas Fed
also is announcing the immediate availability of IBM
Personal Computer Model XTs for use with the RESPONSE
network.

DETAILS:

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is pleased to
announce decreases in the monthly lease fee for
personal computers.
The revisions to Bulletin 16,
Supplement A, Table 1, indicate the new lease fees of
$98 per month for institutions connected with the
RESPONSE network through an IBM Personal Computer and
$153 per month for institutions connected with the
network through an IBM Personal Computer Model XT.
Previously,
these fees were
$120 and
$220
respectively. Prices for optional upgrades have not
been revised. The reduced fees will be automatically
assessed as of February 1, 1985.

Personal computer configurations 1 and 2 are readily
available as an initial or second link to the RESPONSE
network or as a replacement of a currently leased
standard IBM Personal Computer (configuration 1) with
an IBM Personal Computer Model XT (configuration 2).

The attached Bulletin 16 supplement modifications also
delineate monthly access fee charges previously
announced in our Circular 84-98 dated October 2, 1984.
This supplement should be inserted in Volume 1 of the
Regulations Binders and the supplement dated July 1984
should be removed.
