These large-volume, bulk tapes are expected to be of use to requestors who wish to analyze or manipulate data for large numbers of banks or groups. Each type of bank data is contained on one tape for all banks for each of the several data dates in that UBPR edition. Each record will contain approximately 700 ratio or dollar values. <> R2 -Peer group averages: Each tape will contain a record for each of the 25 UBPR peer groups plus a record for all banks, for all of data dates for that edition. the Each record will contain approximately 330 average ratio values. <> R3 - Bank percentile ranks: Each tape will contain a record for each insured commercial bank for one data date (13,701 banks as of 12/31/87). Each record will contain approximately 330 percentile rank values. <> R4 and R5 - State and state/asset group averages: Each tape will contain a record for each state plus a record for all banks, for the dates indicated in the table. The same tape will also contain a record for each of three asset size groups in each state, plus a record for all banks in each of these asset sizes ($0-25 million, $25-100 million and over $100 million); these size group records are present only for the latest data date for the edition. Each record will contain approximately 33 ratio averages, plus total assets and total net income. The table which follows summarizes the data available for all of the 1988 quarterly editions, and indicates typical availability dates. Tape Format All UBPR tapes for an edition will be in the same format. Each record will allow for identification data items, 498 bytes of bank and 12,600 bytes fields) of UBPR data items, or group (1,800 7-byte for a total of 13,098 bytes. On each record, certain fields will contain data values and other fields will contain null values, as specified in the technical documentation. Parallel items will be in the same location on all files for all data types.
