DISCONTINUANCE OF
CASH LETTER FORM TR-1

To All Member and Par Nonmember Banks
in the Head Office Territory:
Early in October our head office at Dallas will discontinue the use of conventional cash letter
Form TR-1. This change will result from the installation of a second high-speed check-handling
system.
Replacing the conventional cash letter form will be a tape-cash letter on which will appear the
following d ata:
Name and ABA number of this bank.
Date of cash letter.
Name of drawee bank.
Recapitulation of proof-run totals.
Cash letter total.
FRB identification codes.
Repeated cash letter total.
In addition, there will be enclosed with each tape-cash letter a “Remittance Card.” Please fill
in the information called for on the card and return it each day along with your remittance draft
and return items. The completed card is needed to reconcile your cash letter payments.
On the other side of this letter are illustrations of a tape-cash letter and a completed remittance
card. In completing the remittance card, please insert the date and total of our cash letter, the
amount of adjustments for differences found in the letter (if any), the total of the cash letter
after adjustment, the amount of the return items, and the net amount due. On the reverse side of
the card, please explain all adjustments. Also, please return tapes with positions of errors marked.
Such tapes will be returned to the remitting bank.
The return items may be listed on the reverse of the remittance card or on an accompanying
tape list. For the protection of your bank, you should retain a microfilm record or complete
description which will enable you to establish identity of any items th at might become lost while
being returned to us. You may also wish to microfilm the remittance card for record purposes.
Your cooperation and assistance in this new remittance procedure will be sincerely appreciated.
Yours very truly,
Watrous H. Irons
President
