Federal R eserve Bank
OF DALLAS
DALLAS. TEXAS 75222

July 17, 1985
Circular 85-92

TO: ACH coordinators of all financial
institutions in the Eleventh
Federal Reserve District
SUBJECT
The availability of ACH Entry Registers via the IBM PC
DETAILS
The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is pleased to announce the
availability of ACH Entry Registers (transaction detail) through the
Generalized Advice Retrieval System using the IBM Personal Computer.
Financial institutions that currently receive their ACH Entry Registers on
paper from the Fed may now access the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' computer
using the IBM Personal Computer and retrieve their ACH Entry Register for
printing on the PC printer. Entry Register data will generally be available
for retrieval in late afternoon for the day cycle and in the early morning for
the night cycle.
This step toward a more electronic ACH is only the first step in a
program the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas has embarked upon to enhance the
ACH and the RESPONSE network. This program will culminate around the end of
this year with the availability of software that will run in the IBM PC
allowing PC users to originate and receive ACH items or small files
electronically. The ability to originate items also will allow institutions
to originate ACH return items in an electronic format.
