MIXED CASH LETTER PROGRAM TO ALL DEPOSITORY INSTITUTIONS IN THE ELEVENTH FEDERAL RESERVE DISTRICT: In conjunction with the new check services fee schedule that went into effect on February 24, 1983, the Dallas and San Antonio offices of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas also implemented a new 7:00 p.m. mixed cash letter program. Effective April 4, 1983, the Houston office will also offer a 7:00 p.m. deposit option for mixed cash letters. Both mixed cash letters and "other Fed" cash letters will be accepted for deposit at the 7:00 p.m. cutoff. A mixed cash letter is defined as one in which at least 50 percent of the items in the le tte r are drawn on Eleventh District institutions. Cash letters with more than 50 percent of the items drawn on institutions in other Federal Reserve Districts are classified as other Fed cash letters. The per-item price is 3.6<J; for mixed cash letters and 5<t for other Fed cash letters. These cash letter definitions also apply for any mixed or other Fed cash letter cutoff, not just the 7:00 p.m. program. An availability schedule for the mixed cash le tte r program for each Eleventh District office is attached. Effective April 18, 1983, the cutoff time for local and other Fed nonmachineable letters will be extended to the city item cutoff time in the Eleventh District. Each office in the Eleventh District currently has a 7:00 a.m. cutoff for nonmachineable items. This will be extended to 9:00 a.m. in Dallas and Houston, 9:15 a.m. in El Paso, and 9:30 a.m. in San Antonio.
