ABSTRACT:

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) collect deposit data on each office of every FDIC-insured bank and savings association as of June 30 each year. The FDIC surveys all FDIC-insured commercial banks, savings banks, and U.S. branches of foreign banks, and the OTS surveys all savings associations. Prior to 1997, the FDIC and the OTS published bank and thrift deposit data separately in printed Data Books. Beginning with the 1997 Data Book, information covering all banks and savings associations has been combined into a single publication. The results for individual institution offices, organized by state, are published in six regional Data Books. Aggregate data for the U.S., states, counties and other areas are published in the national Data Book.
