Geithner Secretary of the Treasury Department of the Treasury 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, D.C. 20220 Dear Secretary Geithner: A public meeting of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (Committee) was held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at United States Mint Headquarters in Washington, DC. The Committee reviewed proposed designs for the 2013 Presidential $1 Coins honoring Presidents William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and Woodrow Wilson. For the $1 coin honoring President William McKinley, the Committee strongly recommended design WMc-10. The design garnered 24 of 27 possible points through the Committee’s scoring process. Of the nine (9) members participating in the evaluation, eight (8) assigned the highest possible score of three (3) to this design. Committee members commented that the design provided a well executed image of President McKinley. Design TR-01 was strongly recommended by the Committee for the $1 coin honoring President Theodore Roosevelt. The design received 25 of 27 possible points through the Committee’s scoring process with all members indicating support for the design through points assigned. Committee members commented that the design captured the flamboyant and energetic character of President Roosevelt. For the $1 coin honoring President William Howard Taft, the Committee recommended design WHT-1. The design received 22 of 27 possible points through the Committee’s evaluation process with eight (8) of nine (9) members supporting the design through points assigned. The Committee felt design WHT-1 provided an accurate portrayal of the 27th President. Finally, design WW-2 was recommended by the Committee for the $1 coin honoring President Woodrow Wilson. The design garnered 17 of 27 possible points through the Committee’s evaluation process. All nine members participating in the evaluation assigned points to this design indicating their support.
