Chairperson Marks called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M. 2. The letter and minutes of the July 26, 2011 meeting were unanimously approved. 3. Kaarina Budow of the United States Mint presented the candidate designs for the 2013 Presidential $1 Coin Program, inclusive of coins honoring Presidents William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson. 4. After each member had commented on the candidate designs, Committee members rated proposed designs by assigning 0, 1, 2, or 3 points to each, with higher points reflecting more favorable evaluations. With nine (9) members voting, the maximum possible point total was 27. Committee members discussed conceptual commemorative program recommendations for the Committee’s Fiscal Year 2011 annual report and, specifically, potential themes for the years 2015 and 2016. For 2015, the committee discussed a recommendation for the 150th anniversary of the 13th amendment to the Constitution. For 2016, potential recommendations discussed included the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, the 150th anniversary of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the 150th anniversary of the Transatlantic Cable, and a commemoration of Highway 2 Route 66. Action to adopt specific recommendations was scheduled for the October 25, 2011 Committee meeting. 6. There being no further business, Chairperson Marks adjourned the meeting at 11:42 a.m. 3
