Dear. Secretary Mnuchin,

A public meeting of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) was held on Wednesday,
July 17, 2019, to review and discuss the obverse and reverse design of die 2020 Basketball Hall
of Fame Commemorative Coin Program.
The portfolios for both obverse and reverse designs were well received by the committee. The
Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame President and CEO, John Doleva spoke on their
behalf and highlighted, the "Naismith Values”: Teamwork, Sportsmanship, Fitness, Leadership,
Integrity, Respect, and Perseverance.
The CCAC reviewed 20 obverse designs, developed through a public competition and after
review and discussion, the committee recommends BHF-O-19, which received 26 of possible 33
votes. This design portrays the intense, hands-on action of the game of basketball. It features
three different figures all reaching for the ball in unison, suggesting how the sport has brought
together millions of diverse people around the world through a simple, universal, and unifying
athletic experience.. BHF-O-02, which depicts the action of a slam dunk, one of the most
exciting plays in the game, was a close second with 18 votes.

The Committee reviewed 23 reverse designs. We recommend BHF-R-01, which received 20
votes out of a possible 33. The design depicts a three-quarter profile review of a basketball.
BHF-R-17, which depicts a basketball about to pass through the net, was a close second with
16 of the possible 33 votes.

Ultimately the committee passed a motion to recommend BHF-O-19 with BHF-R-01 as preferred
designs. The committee additionally passed a motion to recommend an optional selection of
BHF-O-02 with BHF-R-18.
