January 17, 2018 The Honorable Steven T. Mnuchin Secretary of the Treasury Department of the Treasury 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, D.C. 20220 Dear Secretary Mnuchin, A telephonic meeting of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) was held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, to review and discuss the reverse design for the 2019 America the Beautiful Quarter Program quarter honoring American Memorial Park (Northern Mariana Islands). The site liaison, Theo Chargualaf, attended by telephone and guided the committee members regarding native dress and ethnicity to ensure the accuracy of the design. Thirteen different designs were presented. After discussing the merits of the art presented to the committee, a motion was made and passed by a vote of 6–1 to recommend design MP2-04, depicting a young Chamorro woman wearing traditional dress, resting her hand on the plaque with text honoring the sacrifice of those who died in the liberation of Saipan. This design was favored by the liaison and other park employees. Best regards, I am Mary N. Lannin Chair Established by Act of Congress, Public Law 108-15
