Chairperson Lannin opened the meeting at 1:00 pm. 2. Minutes and letters of June 16-17 unanimously approved. 3. April Stafford of the United States Mint presented the candidate designs for the reverse of the Nancy Reagan First Spouse Gold Coin and Medal Program. Contributing to the discussion was Melissa Giller, Chief Marketing Officer of The Reagan Foundation. 4. It was noted that Mrs. Reagan preferred design FS-NR-R-01 as her choice. 5. Committee members discussed the reworked designs for the reverse. It was noted by Donald Scarinci that this was one of the rare times in modern history where the input of a living presidential spouse could be considered and that we should consider her wishes. Several members were opposed to this, noting that it would become a coin with two obverses, i.e. Mrs. Reagan on both sides. 6. A voice vote was taken and FS-NR-R-01 chosen by a vote of 6-3. 7. Committee adjourned at 1:17 pm.
