CONSUMER SPENDING RISES IN JUNE

Personal income was unchanged in June after increasing 0.3
percent in May. Wages and salaries, the largest component
of personal income, decreased 0.1 percent in June, in
contrast to a 0.4 percent increase in May.
Real disposable personal income (DPI), income adjusted
for inflation and taxes, increased 0.2 percent in June
following a 0.4 percent increase in May.
Real consumer spending, spending adjusted for price
changes, increased 0.1 percent in June after increasing 0.2
percent in May.

PCE prices decreased in June and May by 0.1 percent.
Excluding food and energy, the PCE price index was flat in
June after increasing 0.1 percent in May.

Personal saving rate
Personal saving as a percent of disposable personal income
was 6.4 percent in June, compared to 6.3 percent in May.
