TUESDAY July 31, 2007 Disposable Personal Income Turns Up in June Personal income, a broad current-dollar measure, rose 0.4 percent in June, the same increase as in May. Wages and salaries, the largest component of personal income, increased 0.5 percent, after increasing 0.4 percent. May Real disposable personal income (DPI), the after-tax amount available for spending or saving, increased 0.3 percent in June, after decreasing 0.1 percent in May. Real consumer spending (personal consumption expenditures) was unchanged in June, after increasing 0.2 percent in May. Prices, as measured by the personal consumption expenditures price index, increased 0.1 percent, after increasing 0.5 percent in May. Excluding food and energy, prices increased 0.1 percent, the same increase as in May.
