Many banks have made outstanding progress in preprinting their checks; however, the percentage of conforming items in this District is somewhat lower than the national average. As a number of banks either have installed or are scheduled to install high-speed equipment, it becomes increasingly important to have items in check collection channels that can be handled on the equipment.
