Many banks have made outstanding progress in preprinting their checks; however,
the percentage of conforming items in this District is somewhat lower than the national
average.
As a number of banks either have installed or are scheduled to install high-speed
equipment, it becomes increasingly important to have items in check collection channels
that can be handled on the equipment. Therefore, banks are urged to proceed as rapidly
as possible with their preprinting plans in order to support and facilitate the check
mechanization program.
Yours very truly.
