Circular 90-18
URGENT
TO:

The Chief Operating Officer
of all financial institutions
and others concerned in the
Eleventh Federal Reserve District
SUBJECT
New Toll-Free Phone Numbers for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
DETAILS

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is installing new toll-free
numbers for both data and voice phone lines in Dallas (toll-free lines to
Branches of the Dallas Fed will NOT change). This new toll-free phone service
will allow the Dallas Fed to offer its customers exceptional service while
controlling the rising cost of long distance.
Existing services which will be affected by this change include the
RESPONSE network, Transfer of Funds, Customer Assistance, CATIE and ACH dial
(after hours). New direct toll-free numbers will be available for RESPONSE
Assistance and for a Public Information recording which will provide
information on Federal Reserve services and activities. The Dallas Fed
switchboard will also have a new toll-free number.
There will be only one number for each service for the entire
Eleventh District. No longer will financial institutions in Louisiana and New
Mexico call a different toll-free number than financial institutions in Texas.
The data lines that connect Eleventh District financial institutions’
computers to the Dallas Fed’s RESPONSE network will be converted to the new
toll-free system first. The RESPONSE network data line for Louisiana and New
Mexico financial institutions will transfer to the new toll-free number on
Tuesday, April 10, 1990. Texas financial institutions will transfer to the new
RESPONSE network data line on Tuesday, April 17, 1990. All other lines will be
transferred to the new toll-free numbers on Tuesday, May 1, 1990.
The new toll-free numbers for the Dallas Fed are listed on the back
of this page. Please make a note of the new number for each service and the
date on which the service will be switched. You will not be able to complete
any transactions on the old toll-free numbers once the service has been
changed. This is particularly important for customers using the RESPONSE
network data lines.
