ENDORSEMENT OF CERTAIN CHECKS DRAWN ON
THE TREASURER OF THE UNITED STATES

To All Banks and Trust Companies in the
Second Federal Beserve District:

The Treasury Department has advised us that the Treasurer of the
United States will hereafter accept the following form of endorsement
on checks drawn on the Treasurer of the United States in payment of
interest on and principal of public debt obligations of the United States
and obligations fully and unconditionally guaranteed both as to principal
and interest by the United States:
"Credited to the account of the within named payee in accordance
with payee's instructions. Absence of endorsement guaranteed.
X Y Z Bank."

We believe that utilization of this procedure may be of particular
convenience to banks and trust companies receiving such checks for
credit to the payees' accounts where the payees are not available to
endorse such checks.
