SUBSCRIPTION BOOKS TO CLOSE MARCH 9, 1940
On Offering of United States of America % Percent Treasury Notes of Series A-1945

To all Banking Institutions and Others Concerned in the
Second Federal Reserve District:

In accordance with instructions received today from Secretary of the
Treasury Morgenthau the subscription books will close at the close of business,
Saturday, March 9, 1940, on the current offering of United States of America
% percent Treasury Notes of Series A-1945, dated and bearing interest from
March 15, 1940, due March 15, 1945, in payment of which only Treasury Notes
of Series B-1940, maturing June 15, 1940, may be tendered. Any subscription
addressed to a Federal Reserve bank or branch and placed in the mail before
midnight, Saturday, March 9, 1940, as evidenced by postoffice cancellation, will
be considered a timely subscription.
