FE D E R AL R E SE R V E BAN K O F N E W YO R K Fiscal A g en t of the United States ]“ Circular No. 3 1 9 1 1 t March 3, 1947 J UNITED STATES SAYINGS BONDS OFFICIAL SYMBOL FOR ISSUING AGENTS To all Issuing Agents in the Second Federal Reserve District Qualified for Sale o f Series E Savings Bonds: Enclosed is a decalcomania which the Treasury Department has designed as an official identification symbol for display exclusively by issuing agents qualified for the sale of United States Savings Bonds of Series E. On the reverse side of the decalcomania are instructions for applying it to the inside of glass, to the outside of glass, or to painted surfaces. The Treasury Department wishes to have this insigne become known as the official identification symbol for issuing agents, and the United States Savings Bonds Division of the Treasury Department will refer to it frequently in national advertising relating to the sale of Savings Bonds. It is hoped, therefore, that each issuing agent, including its branches if any, will arrange to display the symbol permanently in some prominent location, such as a street entrance or street window. In this manner, the symbol will become known to the public and will serve as a constant reminder to purchase Savings Bonds. One copy of the decalcomania is being sent to each issuing agent, and to each branch office of an issuing agent which maintains a separate account with us. Replacements, or a reasonable quantity of additional copies, will be furnished by us upon request. A l l a n S pr o u l, President.
