COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and i n d u s t r i a l l o a n s d e c r e a s e d a n e t of $46 m i l l i o n a t
weekly r e p o r t i n g l a r g e commercial banks during t h e week ended October 18.
The p r i n c i p a l n e t d e c r e a s e s were $70 m i l l i o n i n l o a n s t o " o t h e r "
p u b l i c u t i l i t i e s , $52 m i l l i o n t o m a n u f a c t u r e r s of machinery, $49 m i l l i o n t o
m a n u f a c t u r e r s of " o t h e r " d u r a b l e goods.
The l a r g e r o f f s e t t i n g n e t i n c r e a s e s were $93 m i l l i o n i n l o a n s t o
r e t a i l t r a d e , and $64 m i l l i o n t o commodity d e a l e r s .
