Department store sales increased slightly in June after allowance for the
usual seasonal change. The adjusted index is estimated at 127 per cent of the
19U7-U9 average, compared with 125 for May and 121; for June a year ago# Total
dollar sales were 2 per cent greater than a year ago in the first half of 1957.
