This hearing before the Senate Committee and Currency considered the nomination of Dr. Andrew F. Brimmer to be a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System for a term of eight years. In 1966, Dr. Brimmer became the first African American to serve on the Board of Governors and served until 1974.
