Conference themes have evolved to address the most urgent concerns of the time, including the interconnections between monetary policy, financial stability, and fiscal policy in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis; the persistent employment challenges following the 2007-09 recession; the role of education in labor market outcomes; and long-term trends in economic inequality across firms, geographic regions, and demographic groups. Through the Atlanta Fed's Center for Human Capital Studies and other initiatives, this conference features both senior policymaker discussions that frame key questions and formal academic presentations that analyze unconventional policy responses and structural economic changes.
