Included are documents such as reports, testimonies, and letters relating to the Federal Reserve System and banking. The General Accounting Office (GAO) was originally formed July 1, 1920 as a result of the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/fraser.stlouisfed.org\/title\/5858?start_page=4\">Budget and Accounting Act of 1921<\/a>. In 2004 the name was changed to the Government Accountability Office when the GAO Human Capital Reform Act was enacted on July 7, 2004. GAO gives Congress, the heads of executive agencies, and the public, timely, fact-based, non-partisan information that may be used to improve government and save billions of dollars.&nbsp;<\/p>"
