This survey merged the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://fraser.stlouisfed.org/title/4655">Area Wage Survey (AWS)</a>, the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://fraser.stlouisfed.org/series/5293">Industry Wage Survey (IWS)</a>, and the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://fraser.stlouisfed.org/title/4570">National Survey of Professional, Administrative, Technical and Clerical Pay (PATC)</a> into a single survey. The OCS concluded in 1997. In Bulletin <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://fraser.stlouisfed.org/title/6073/item/584617?start_page=2">3082-1</a>, published August 1996, it was announced that a new statistical program, using a method called "generic leveling," would be replacing the existing OCS program. The OCS, Employment Cost Index, and the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://fraser.stlouisfed.org/title/5239">Employee Benefit Survey</a> series.
