Dear Ir. Strong,
Thank you so much for your letter of June 2nd;

it is

very pleasant to read all the charming things you say in it but
I assure you there is no question of your thanking us for

making your time in Italy enjoyable for we all look back upon
the time spent with you with the greatest pleasure and are now
looking forward to your next visit which I hope will be less
rushed;

there are plenty irore beautiful things in Italy to

show you!

I trust you are having a good time now and perhaps a more
restful one!

I have been very busy since my return but hope

things may shortly begin to slack off a little.

With very best wishes from my wife, Jimmie and myself, and
many thanks for your very appreciative company.
Yours very si cerely,

Governor, Orodito Italiano,
Milan, Italy.
Dear Sir:
I be

to acknowledge the receikt to-day of your

courteous inquiry of October 27th.
It is true that recent amendments to trio Federal

Reserve Act, (under which we are orerating,) do now permit
of nankin;; relations balk; established with foreilli banks,

but it is subject to the ap,roval of the Federal Reserve

Board at Washington and thus far the Board has not doomed
it wise to make such connections and we assume that they
may be postponed until conilitions are more normal.

It would seem, therefore, that consideration of
your su&t:estion of a reciprocal relation must still be deferred until a later date.
'.;ith assurance:; of esteem, believe us,

Very truly yours,
