rely, please give us the name and address of the proposed purchaser so that we can submit the entire transaction to the owner
of the automobile.
Inasmuch as Yr. Takenaea is apparently a bloc~ed national
and the ownership certificate· is understood ·t,o be held in a blocked
safe deposit box, it will be necessary to proceed in accordance
W'ith Foreign Funds Control proviaione, in order to complete the
sale. In view of this tact, we would want to be assured that the
purchaser would be prepared to follow through on the transaction
even though eome little t1- may elapse in its completion.

We called on the Paloa Verdes Farma Association and interviewed Mr. Merrick,
Local Manager. lf• were intorrmd that a limited p.rtnerahip was organised in which
a group or Caucasian Americana i-rticipated tor the purpose of purchasing Hideo
Takenaga•s investment.
The Palos Verdes Farms Aaeociation purchased trom Hideo Takenaga and Seiji Oniahi
on March 28, 1942, certain propert.y and merchandise tor the ota c0ii1 e ltion ot
$10,487.45. The property and merchandise 10 1old were deacribed in billa ot aal.8 aa
.tree and clear or all encwnbrancea and were not burdened with lien• or charges clear
of all encumbrancea ard were not birdened with liena or chargea of any nature. Th•
agreement alao recited that all billa incurred by the Japanese Hller1 •re not to be
charged against the purchase price and that should the purchaaera be called upon to
aatiaty al\Y liens or chargea, t.hey wre privileged to make ia.vmmt thereot and deduct
any IJIO&mta so paid trom tl'w monthly instalments recit,ed in agreement dated March 28,

The agreement contains a 10 days 1 grace clause.

alao secured a copy of a letter, dated June 10, 1942, from the o.ftices ot Tripp,
Callaway & Samp•on, Los Angeles, attorneys for the aaaociation, a cop7 ot which is
enclosed, wherein 16 items are aet forth which total $787. 73 1 which amount was dedticted

This organisation moved voluntarily to Tulare County several
months ago, and leaaed a aection of land. Substantial SUJDI were
invested in buildinga and crop plantings.
The manager, Hideo Taken~ga, approached our Visalia office and
related that the7 had diepoaed of moat or their tann equipnent
coneiating ot seed and tools, to l)alos Verdes Farms at the tim
the7 left San Pedro.
It appears that the latter company deducted ~ 7 86.00 trom the June
payment, atating that certain items were missing. Takenaga protested thi1 action by writing but has had no satisfactory answer.
l e would appreciate it if you will contact the Palos Verdes Farma
and ascertain their position. It is quite possible that thia ia
a farm probl.sm but in view of our lack of knowledge as to the
original transaction we would be inttirested in obtaining the per-
tinent tacts.

California, st ~ ted that he would buy my hotel furniture

factory. Since that time I have asked hi~ on numerous
occasions to set the value or my property, but in each
instance he ] Ost~oned the actual setting of the velue.
Finally on :May 12, two days before I wa s evaou~ted to
this Center, Mr. Gostalli informed me that he would not
purchase my equipment and that I would have to find other
buyers. As a result of this last-minute refusal to purc.:1ase,
I was oblig ed to sell most or my hotel equipment at rid!•
culously low ~rices. I w9.s unab: P to sell ~4 beds, mattresses,
