Gentlemen:— We are very much interested in the of PittsburiiL as one of the Reserve selection cities and while we have the kindliest feelings for Cleveland we feel that the selection of Pittsburg would be more advantageous to a larger section than Cleveland could xossibly serve. In the event of a reconsideration of the location of the Federal Reserve Bank for our section we would appreciate the opportunity of appearing before your board for a hearing. In the regional bank territory to which Cincinnati is assigned the part south of the Ohio River including part of Vest Virginia and Kentucky could be much better served with the bank at Cincinnati and half of Ohio could be equally as well served as in Cleveland in addition to which Cincinnati can reach any part of this territory in a much less average time that can the city designated. Bank Org Committee Your Excellency:As a simple student of Economics, may I ask:What ethical principle influenced the Organization Committee of the U. S. Treasury Department, to select as the economic CENTER of a financial district, a remote point on its financial and geographical FRONTIER, as exemplified in Regional District #4? I have been asked this question, and would like to be qualified to answer it intelligently. http://fraser.stlouisfed.org Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Yours respectfully, -" #1209 Union Trust Building. 14. C.( ,r t J- ttes. sank Org Committee My dear Mr. McAdoo:The verdict of the organization Committee leaves much to be desired. Cincinnati always has been, and is, much more of a banking center than Oleveland. The great territory West of Minneapolis, Kansas City and Dallas has only one regional balak. Philadelphia and New York are two hours apart, Boston and New York four or five hours, Kansas City and St Louis only seven hours. Business men often complain of juries, but my observation is that a body of experts comes no nearer reaching verdicts which are approved by the average mind. http://fraser.stlouisfed.org Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Sincerely, ft http://fraser.stlouisfed.org Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis
