The banks of the South, without exception, desire th a t the reserve

outlined to the North of C h arlotte, is within one n ig h t's mail of C h arlotte,
and the tread o f business in th is te r r ito r y is to the South.
The mail f a c i l

on evening t r a i n s , reaching 1 2 -hour c it ie s the next morning.
We present

Gharlotte already conducts an immense amount o f business with

needs of the en tire d i s t r i c t .
The estab lish ed custom and tread o f business
has for so long been in favor of Hew York, P hiladelphia and Baltim ore, that
i t would be presumptions for any c ity now in t h is d i s t r i c t to claim to con

the Southeast.
The very nature and ob ject of the formation o f the reserve banks
is to create such a center of fin a n c ia l operations for which Gharlotte i s
most admirably adapted by reason of lo c a tio n , s i z e , business surroundings
and the immense amount o f commerce carried on to the immediate Bortheast

The population of t h is d i s t r ic t is of the same radical decent

Dear Sir and Brother:
O n behalf o f forty

a suitable l o ea tion for
one of the Federal Reserve Banka about to lie established in o u r country.
The City of Charlotte geographically is loca t e d raidway between the
\
m a n u f a c t u r i n g and commercial centers of the N o r t h Atlantic States and
the agricultural sections of the South At l a n t i c States.

Chariott* is

also the center of great manufac t u r i n g d e v elopments of diversified
character but most largely of the raw products from the fields of the
farmers.

Charlotte is also the center of great electrical development

and is rapidly becoming one of the most important industrial and c o m
m e r cial centers of the South Atlantic States.
Charlotte is also an important rail road center and within easy
and rapid communication with all points N o r t h , S o u t h o r West,
But more important than all these facts,Charlotte is the center
of a great agricultural section of our Southland, It is about time
for l u r N a t i o n a l Government to consider the n e e d s of that fundamental
calling on w h i c h all other industries are dependent. The agricultural
interests Rust be aided and promoted and de v e l o p e d above all others
if we would maintain our position mm? one of the prosperous Nations of
the world.

I believe

I t is the

la r g e st c it y in North Carolina, with splendid banks and
banking f a c i l i t i e s , and I , th erefore, tru st that you
w i l l give the City o f Charlotte very serious considera
tion when you come to sele.ct your Reserve Centers.
