August 25, 19104. Fi les Chairman Eccles Telephone conversation with. Mr. Sproul. I discussed with Mr. Sproul today the subject natter of hi8 letter of August 2I4., and explained to him why it would not be advisable to accept his suggested amendments in the light of my experience the past three days before the Banking and Currency Committees of the House and Senate. I reported to him rather fully the present status of the legislation and advised him that I had no objection to his reporting the matter to the Legislative Committee of the Presidents' Conference, of whioh he is the chairman.
