COMMITTEE ON CLAIMS

November 11, 1942

Mr. M. S. Eccles, Chaiman
Board of Governors
Federal Reserve System
Washington, D. C.
Dear Mr, Eccles;
Your l e t t e r i s very heartening to me. I t i s
veiy hard to lose, but i t i s one of the things that
those of us in public l i f e have to take. Tour writing
makes i t easier for me.
The tremendous amount of mail I have received,
not only from Michigan but from the country a t large,
makes me f e e l t h a t , regardless of the result of the
election, my services to the state and the aountry are
appreciated. In f a c t , I have the feeling that I am
receiving credit beyond ny deserts, However, in a case
like mine your kind words are most comforting.
