CLARK, CLERK EDUCATION AND LABOR April 10, 1956 Honorable Marriner S. Eccles Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System Washington, D. C. My dear Mr* Eccles: I am enclosing a copy of a bill introduced in the Senate by Senator Wagner, S. 4424, now pending before the Committee on Education and Labor, of which I am Chairman, The Committee will be pleased to receive your views and any recommendation you desire to make to the Committee* Sincerely yours, May 1, 1936. My dear ben^tor: I wish to acknowledge, with appreciation, your letter of ixpril 10, enclosing a copy 01* the housing bill iriLroduced by Senator Wagner, and stating that your Committee would be pleased to receive my views and any recommendation i might desire to make with regard to the bill. The delay in my answering your letter is due to the fact that I have been out of the city for some time and that the letter was received in my essence. However, I understand that the informal group which the President asked to consider tne whole question of housing legislation expects snortly to h^ve some suggestions with regard to trie matters dealt with in the Wagner bill, as well as vtitn other housing matters not dealt with in that bill. In these circumstances, I tainK thc*t any expression of my views or any recommendation on my part might more appropriately be made, if there seems any occasion for it, after the suggestions of tais irii'oriL&l group have been given to the President. Meanwhile, I wish to express my to your Committee for sending a copy of the r*agner bill to me and offering me an opportuixity to comment on it. Yours sincerely, M. $• Eccles, Chairman Hon.
