G R U W E L L PR E S ID E N T October 17, 1950 Dear Mr. Eccles: We are looking forward, with a great deal of pleasure, to your attendance at our Arizona Bankers Association Convention on November 9, 10, and 11, 1950. As has been our custom in the past, we like to get our close friends and wives together for a little dinner the evening before the convention begins. He would all be very pleased if you will accept our invitation for 6:00 p.m. on November 9, at the Westward Ho Hotel. We are planning to put on our very best Arizona weather for you, so come prepared to relax in the sun and enjoy yourself. If it is convenient, let us know if you can plan to attend. Very truly yo' Mr. Marriner Eccles Federal Reserve Board Washington, D. C. HCGs:rs October 20, 1950. Mr. Hugh C. Gruwell, President, First National Bank of Arizona, Phoenix, Arizona. Dear Mr. Gruwells I just received your letter of October 17 relative to my expected visit to your city in November. I appreciate your kind invitation to attend the dinner your bank is having the evening before the Arizona Bankers Convention begins. I regret that it will not be possible for me to accept as I plan to drive from Salt Lake City to Phoenix via Boulder Dam and do not expect to arrive there until the tenth as I am not on the program of the Convention until the morning of the eleventh. I am looking forward to my first trip to Phoenix and getting acquainted with your part of the country, as well as seeing some of my banker friends and meeting other bankers I have not had the pleasure of knowing in the past. With kind regards, Sincerely yours, M. S. Eccles.
