Mr.Marriner Eccles
Washington,D.C.
¡iy dear Sir
This is primarily to say that your
suggestion that we

economize on the

armed forces and put

more to relief strikes me as being as good sense as it is
good religion. I trust you will be listened to.
I believe the country

as a whole can manage the matter all

right but there will have to be a

lot of individual good

management. There are several suggestions that rise to one's
mind as to how.
Yours truly

Thank you for your very kind letter
of September 29 commenting on my recent talk
to the State Bank Supervisors. Since then we
have had some reprints made, and in view of
your interest it occurred to me that you might
care to see the full text. Accordingly, I am
enclosing a copy.
Sincerely yours,

M. S. Eccles,
Chairman.
