Hon. Marriner S. Eccles,
Federal Reserve Board,
Washington, D. C.
My dear Mr. Eccles!
May I burden you to send me a copy
of your address of yesterday, delivered at the meeting
of the New York State Bankers Association.
For years I have been a staunch
advocate of collection at the source, as it is markedly
helpful to tax-payer, although he may not realize it,
whilst the net to the Government is substantially
increased.
So much in your address as printed
in the New York Times has a strong appeal to me, I am
anxious to have the chance to read it in full.
Hope
this request is not too presuming.
I am,

Mr. J. H. Mason,
Joirney & Co.,
15^9 walnut street,
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dear Mr. Mason:
I would be happy to comply with the
request in your letter of January kO for a copy
of the talk I gave oefore the i4eft York btate
Bankers association, but inasmuch as that effort
was entirely extemporaneous I had no copy and
hove none now, since so far as I Know it was not
taken down.
I am gratified to know that you find
yourself in accord with the views I expressed as
they v«ere quoted in the i'iew York Times, and I ap
preciate your courtesy in writing.
Sincerely yours,

M. S. Eccles,
Chairman.
