Mr. George S. Eccles, President,
First Security Bank of Utah N. A.,
Ogden, Utah.
Dear George:
With reference to your letter of December 3<*,
I am enclosing the transcript of the Governor’s speech
as it was taken down by the convention’s stenographer.
I have not been able to secure a copy of the Adams ac
ceptance speech. Most of the press comment on the battle
of New Orleans was concerned with the Bennett-Adams con
test, as you probably know. That was unfortunate for
sevei-al reasons, including the fact that it obscured the
Governor's speech which was very poorly reported, if at all, by
most of the press.
One of the few satisfactions of the trip was
that I had the chance to see you, and am looking forward
to a further opportunity to talk with you when you come
this way again.
Faithfully,

Elliott Thurston,
Special Assistant
to the Chairman.
