Equal Credit Opportunity: Accessibility to Mortgage Funds by Women and by Minorities
Description:
Report of the Women and Mortgage Credit project of the Office of Policy Development. This project studied data on lending practices with relation to both sex and race, provided by lending institutions in California and New York. The study reveals little discrimination against women, but widespread discrimination against minorities. Volume 1 discusses the theoretical bases for the models used by the study, and the results of the study of lenders in California and New York. Volume II contains appendices to the report: Variable Definitions, Model Estimates for California Savings and Loan Associations, and Model Estimates for New York. (Volumes 1 and 2 make up the final technical report.) Volume 3 contains a summary of the results.

It is divided into four sections: the labor situation of women over the past 3 decades, employment characteristics of women, unemployment, and the family dimension of women's labor force participation. Each chart has a companion table that can be found in appendix A. Most of the data are from the Current Population Survey.
