RETAIL FUREITURE REPORT FOR,?.ARCH 1945
R e t a i l f u r n i t u r e s t o r e s a l e s i n c r e a s e d by. somewhat more t h a n t h e
customary s e a s o n a l amount in Ivarch, and were 17 per cent above tho volume
of a - y e a r e a r l i e r . Cash end i n s t a l m e n t s a l e s showed mere t h a n t h o u s u a l
s e a s o n a l r i s e from February t o Larch, and were c o n s i d e r a b l y l a r g e r t h a n i n
t h e same period l a s t y-uar. Charge-account s a l e s r o s e 19 per c e n t during
t h e month; and continued above t h e y e a r - a g o l e v e l ,
• I n v e n t o r i e s i n c r e a s e d s l i g h t l y d u r i n g Earch, and f o r t h e f i r s t
time sin.ee January 104 3 stocks v/ere l a r g e r than t h o s e h e l d in t h e c o r r e sponding period of t h e preceding y e a r . At the end of tir: month, t h e y
amounted t o n e a r l y f o u r months' supply a t t h e c u r r e n t r a t e of s a l e , a s
compared v;ith approximately f o u r and one-half months' supply a t t h e end of
Larch 19^4.

of c o l l e c t i o n s d u r i n g i x r c h t o accounts r e c e i v a b l e on t h e f i r s t of t h e
